Ordering Seeds

It is January, and every January I spend hours flipping through seed magazines and perusing seed websites dreaming about what I might add to my garden for the New Year. In my moment of weakness today, I ordered a bunch of seeds. I couldn't help it. Those darn ever-so-alluring pictures of pretty plants and flowers get me every time. Many of these things will be experimental, but I can't learn what grows here unless I try it. Here is what I ordered:

Alpine Strawberry 'Ruegen'
Melon 'Northern Arizona'
Zucchini 'Cocozelle'
Agastache rupestris (Sunset Hyssop)
Scarlet Runner Bean
Hyacinth Bean 'Ruby Moon'
Gloriosa daisy
Tahoka daisy
Indian Paintbrush
Purple Horse Mint
Red corn poppy
Dwarf Red Plains Coreopsis
Wine cup

However, now I must go rip out more grass in the back yard to make space for my new stuff. I am eagerly anticipating the arrival of my seeds! *rubbing hands together in great delight*

Hi, I live in Oklahoma, but I'm coming for the Spring Fling. Will you be there? Found you thru Pam's Digging blog. I know a lot of your seeds, and I think many of them will do well. Scarlet Runner Bean wouldn't bloom for me because of the heat, but maybe you'll have better luck.~~Dee

Dee,

I used to have those scarlet runner beans back home and I love them so much. I am going to try and get them to grow against my East facing fence *sigh*...it is most likely another one of my futile attempts to put plants I grew up with in my Texas backyard....

I hope to attend Spring Fling, I will have to see what my schedule looks like. It sounds fun!

Hello Lee!
Living in Florida, I feel your pain. Many beauitul plants (including roses!) that do beautifully elsewhere just don't like this climate. I'm looking forward to reading more about your (mis)adventures. Want advice? One word: Sunscreen!

I'm a sap for plant and seed catalogs too. So I know what you mean about falling for all the hype !
I have been greedy with Moon Flower vine seeds (snapped a bunch up in case a friend needed some too) ..
Being Canadian .. cabin fever has struck hard this year .. another snow storm just swept through ..
BUT .. we have some wicked heat and humidity in the summer .. thus powdery mildew can be one heck of a problem ..
In any case .. I love hearing about other gardeners that are caught up in seed mania too !
